Humanitarian Work

Below are a few excerpts of some humanitarian and volunteer work with which I've been involved. For more causes and organizations I've worked with in the past, take a look at my resume.

Berlin to Borders

Team Leader and Driver | March 2022 - Present

In my role as a driver and humanitarian aid worker, I made trips from Berlin to the Polish/Ukrainian border to deliver critical aid such as medicine, baby supplies, and other essentials to border crossings and refugee centers. I also transported refugees back to Berlin and help to coordinate their housing and care.

In recent months, the bulk of the organization shifted to maintaining a donation hub and charity supply center for refugees in Berlin of any background. My role now largely focuses on donation transport across the city as well as aiding the operation of the donation center.

Las Carmelas Migrant Assistance Program

Translator and Team Leader | May 2019 - August 2019

Daily, I provided relief to refugees who fled areas of conflict and sought asylum in the United States. I distributed essential supplies such as water, feminine hygiene products, and diapers to refugees as they passed through the bus system in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I served as a Spanish/English liaison between migrants and volunteers to help disseminate information, coordinate supplies and answer their questions.

Isle de Jean Charles

Emergent Method | May 2019- August 2019

Internally, I helped coordinate the relocation of the residents of Isle de Jean Charles, dubbed "America's First Climate Refugees." In conjunction with the team at Emergent Method, I helped communicate their petition to the Louisiana Office of Community Development for a public grant toward their relocation. Their ancestral lands' erosion due to rising sea levels and land subsidence is forcing them out of their home, and the grant and communication project directly assisted the community.

2016 Flood Recovery

August 2016, May 2019 - August 2019

In addition to sandbagging and clean-up efforts in West Monroe, Louisiana, I organized a book drive for impacted south Louisiana schools as president of the Junior Classical League during the initial devastation of the flood in 2016.

With Emergent Method in 2019, I gained extensive experience with environmentally-focused projects and clients statewide, such as the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, Restore Louisiana and the Louisiana Watershed Initiative, with a special focus on the 2016 flood recovery, restoration, and prevention efforts.
